ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant for Health Dr. Zafar Mirza has said that it has been made mandatory for every citizen in the country to wear a mask. Lockdown has been relaxed, so wearing a mask for public places. It will be mandatory, it will be notified soon. He told a media briefing along with Prime Minister Imran Khan that a US multinational company had discovered a drug to treat the coronavirus.
Clinical trials of this drug have found it to be very effective. The question now was whether the drug would be available only to rich countries or to poor countries, as the virus has spread to 210 countries around the world. In this regard, the Prime Minister has also held a video conference with this company, one of our companies has also signed an agreement.
This agreement was completed two days ago.
Now the situation is that there are 6 companies all over the world, which have been allowed to make medicine. Six companies all over the world will be able to take this medicine. In which one company is from Pakistan, one American company and four companies are from other countries. This medicine will not only be treated in Pakistan but will also be exported to 127 countries of the world. He said that Pakistan’s prestige would be enhanced by the fact that Pakistan was one of the countries which would export medicine to the world.
Dr. Zafar Mirza said that the government was now making it mandatory for people to wear masks in public places. Because the lockdown has now opened, we are now issuing notifications that everyone must wear a mask. On this occasion, Federal Minister Asad Umar said that the focus of our policy is to maintain balance, also to see the impact on people’s lives, the nation. We have to move forward with an integrated strategy, by the grace of God, that it is impossible for us to keep the country closed, at the same time we are increasing our testing capacity, our testing capacity has increased 27 times compared to March. Laboratories are 70, surgical masks, N90 masks, ventilators are all supplied by NDMA.
