In order to end extreme poverty, the Asian Development Bank Scholarships – Japan Scholarship Program each year offer a broad variety of financial aid programs for different parts of the world.

Through loans, grants, technical support, equity investments, and loans, it helps its partners and members advance social and economic development. The Asian Development Scholarship Program annually awards 1000 scholarships to institutions all around the world.

About Asian Development Bank & Japan Scholarship Program

Each year, academic institutions in 09 different countries in the area register roughly 135 students under the Asian Development Bank and Japan Scholarship Program 2023–24. About 135 postgraduate scholarships are available annually through the Asian Development Bank and Japan Scholarship Program for studies in economics, management, science, and technology, as well as other development-related subjects, at participating academic institutions.

A fully financed international scholarship program for overseas students is the ADB-JSP program. There is no application fee and all costs associated with the scholarship are refunded. This scholarship is considered one of the highest-paid scholarship in the world. The scholarship is open for all majors and academic fields. The full-time postgraduate program offered by ADB & JSP includes housing, a living and book stipend, health insurance, and travel costs in addition to tuition.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate should;

  • be a citizen of a nation that is both an ADB borrowing member and qualifies for a Japanese ODA scholarship;
  • not possess dual citizenship with any developed countries;
  • and have been accepted into an authorized master’s program at a Designated Institution.
  • possess a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent with exceptional academic record.
  • have at least two (2) years of full-time professional working experience (earned after a university degree) at the time of application; To pursue studies, a candidate must be proficient in both oral and written English communication;
  • not be older than 35 at the time of application, unless omitted in extraordinary circumstances with the Government of Japan’s express approval;
  • be in excellent health;
  • consent to return to and work for at least two (2) years in his or her country of origin after completing studies under the Programmed in order to contribute to that nation’s growth;
  • not be an executive director, alternate director, member of management, staff, or consultant of ADB, or a close relative of any of the foregoing by blood or adoption, with the term “close relative” being defined as: spouse, mother, stepmother, father, stepfather, sister, stepsister, brother, stepbrother, son, daughter, aunt, uncle, niece, or nephew;
  • not be working for ADB-JSP Designated Institutions;
  • not live or work outside of his/her place of origin;
  • and not be enrolled in graduate programmes already.
